From the self-tagged blog, "Mike Cline's Then Playing," comes a series of posts featurin' a publicity poster for each and everyone of our Dino's 51 flicks...along with the release year of each, and some very very cool patter as well.

In his profile Cline, who hails from Salisbury, North Carolina, shares the how and why he is so so passionate 'bout the big screen: "I have always loved the movies and the movie business. Perhaps it is because I was born into it. My family owned and operated the two drive-in theatres in Statesville, N.C. until I was ten. I worked at the two indoor Statesville theatres as a teen. I was sent to Salisbury in 1971 to manage the Capitol Theatre. Through the 1970s, I managed, in addition to the Capitol, the Thunderbird Drive-In and the Terrace Theatre. I collected movies for many years and transported my 16mm projector all over Rowan County, showing movies, cartoons and comedies to groups, whether they wanted to watch them or not."

Well, we at ilovedinomartin are thrilled to share a series of 4---count-'em---4 posts chocked full of Dino-flick Dino-devotion from our newest pallie Mike. DEAN MARTIN AND JERRY LEWIS were the hottest act in show business for a decade...bar none.

Teaming for the first time July 24, 1946, the duo caught fire instantly with the public, and they never looked back.

The team conquered everything they attempted...night clubs, radio, television, public appearances and movies.

SAILOR BEWARE
1952
James Dean appears in this movie.

JUMPING JACKS
1952

THE STOOGE
1952

SCARED STIFF
1953

THE CADDY
1953

In their first feature, MY FRIEND IRMA, Martin and Lewis were not the stars of the film. They were supporting players, an experiment to see how movie goers would react to them.

No problem with acceptance. After expanded roles in a sequel, MY FRIEND IRMA GOES WEST, it was so long Irma, and the boys were own their own.

MONEY FROM HOME
1953

Filmed in 3-D and their first feature
in color.

LIVING IT UP
1954

3 RING CIRCUS
1954

YOU'RE NEVER TOO YOUNG
1955

ARTISTS AND MODELS
1955

Starting with AT WAR WITH THE ARMY, Dean and Jerry would make 14 features together in the next seven years.

EVERY Martin and Lewis movie was a smash.

How many of today's top "movie stars" can claim that they have had 14 hit movies consecutively?
I can't think of any. Without mentioning any names, most of our current crop probably won't have 14 commercial hit movies in their entire careers.

PARDNERS

HOLLYWOOD OR BUST
1956

Question - - When was the height of the Martin and Lewis partnership?
Answer - - Every day they worked together.

Still at the top of the show biz heap, with millions of dollars in contracts ahead of them, and ten years to the day of their first teaming, Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis dissolved their partnership and went their separate ways...with each of them to be heard from again.
